DESCRIPTION:Each Spring we host an Introduction to Jam-Making Class. We use fresh strawberries as our medium since they make such a nice\, bright preserve. All areas of home canning safety will be covered along with the jam-making process from washing and hulling to testing for doneness to jarring and storing. This is a hands-on class and at the end\, everyone will depart with 2 jars of freshly made Strawberry Jam. Please note that we pride ourselves in making and teaching no pectin-added\, low-sugar preserving. this style of jam-making is both science and art-based. We hope you enjoy the process and outcome as much as we do! \nAletha Thomas\, the founder of both Monkeypod Jam and Cooking Kauai\, teaches this introductory class. Her 15+ years of experience in both home and commercial preservation make her one of Hawaii’s top authorities. \nAge Requirement: Ages 16+ \nLocation: The Cooking Kauai\, Provisions Kitchen in Lawai.
