DESCRIPTION:Heiva i Kauai Tahitian Dance Competition 2026 \nIn 2026\, Heiva I Kaua`i celebrates the 24th anniversary of a unique\, exciting and colorful Tahitian dance and drumming competition. This annual event provides a venue for performers of all ages to present their talent\, skill and cultural knowledge to an audience of more than 1\,400 attendees daily! On Saturday and Sunday\, August 1st and 2nd\, from 9am to 5pm\, come and enjoy this community-sponsored\, family-centered celebration of Tahitian culture at the Kapa`a Beach Park (4-1464 Kuhio Highway). Participants from Hawai`i\, the mainland and abroad\, with a range in age from toddler to elder\, perform solo and group competition and exhibition dances portraying legends and stories of Tahiti. Event admission is $8 at the door. Children aged 12 and under are admitted free. \nAfter opening ceremonies\, solo competitions are held on Saturday\, starting with the youngest age groups and continuing through adults\, until the championship dance-offs in the afternoon. Solo categories include traditional otea vahine and tane\, for junior\, senior and master (age 26+) divisions. Group categories include otea\, aparima\, ahupurotu and drumming. Heiva I Kaua`i offers an amateur/youth group category for contestants under age 19. Group competition is scheduled for Sunday.  Please see the Heiva i Kauai website for additional information at http://www.heivaikauai.com. \nOver 45 vendors offer an extensive array of Tahitian and other Pacific Island gifts\, jewelry\, art\, woodwork and clothing. Food vendors sell a variety of ethnic foods. Artists provide demonstrations of Polynesian crafts.  Silent Auction both days from 9am to 2pm with incredible offers from local businesses and creators. \nHeiva i Kaua`i is grateful for support from the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Kaua’i business community. This event is ADA accessible. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Downtown Līhuʻe\nAnnual block party celebrating the heart of Kauaʻi.\nSupported by Levitt Family Foundation\, Hawaii Tourism Authority Community Enrichment Program.\n3 live stages\, over 100 local vendors\, keiki play area\, and more! \nLĪHU‘E – The public is invited to attend the Rice Street Block Party\, a family-focused event\, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday\, Oct. 24. \nTo accommodate the block party\, Rice Street (between Umi Street and Kalena Street) will be closed from 2 to 10 p.m.\, on Oct. 24. Kress Street will also be closed (between Rice Street and Halenani Street). Umi\, Hardy\, and Kalena streets will remain open during the event. \nThe block party will feature various entertainment along Rice Street\, including a keiki zone with a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i\, live music\, local vendors and more. There will also be a kickball tournament at Līhu‘e County Park as a fundraiser for the KCC Veterans Services center. Hawaiian music begins at 9:00 AM\, setting the stage for the day’s festivities. \nAt the heart of the festival is the arrival of Queen Emma\, her attendant\, and her guide\, Kaluahi\, on horseback at 10:00 AM. Protocol ceremonies will pay homage to the Queen\, with performances dedicated to her throughout the day. In a special moment\, the Queen may offer a dance of her own. DESCRIPTION:LĪHU‘E – The highly anticipated Lights on Rice Parade will take place on Friday\, December 4\, 2026\, starting at 6:30 p.m. in Līhu‘e. The parade will begin at Vidinha Stadium\, travel down Ho‘olako and Rice Streets\, and conclude at the Historic County Building on ‘Eiwa Street. \nTo ensure the safety of participants and spectators\, the Kaua‘i Police Department will close all streets along the parade route from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.\, or until the parade has concluded. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and expect traffic delays in the area. \nRoad Closures: \n\nHo‘olako Street (Vidinha Stadium to Rice Street)\nRice Street (Ho‘olako Street to Eiwa Street)\n‘Eiwa Street (Rice Street to Hardy Street)\n\nParking and Transit Updates: \n\nNo parking will be allowed along the parade route beginning at 5:00 p.m. on December 6.\nParking restrictions will also be in effect at the Historic County Building and nearby state office parking lots from 4:30 p.m. to midnight to accommodate parade floats.\nThe bus stop on ‘Eiwa Street will be temporarily relocated to Hardy Street\, with all bus routes servicing the Hardy/‘Eiwa intersection from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.\nThe Route 70 Līhu‘e Shuttle will not operate on Rice Street during the parade.\n\nAdditionally\, the annual Christmas Craft Fair at the Kaua‘i Museum will also be taking place on the same day. For the safety of pedestrians and vendors and to accommodate the craft fair\, a portion of the Līhu‘e Civic Center parking lot will be closed to access through the ‘Eiwa Street entrance from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. \nEvent organizers will provide updates should severe weather conditions affect the parade on December 6.
